Ippudo

Com a quantidade de restaurantes e bares em Nova Iorque, o melhor a se fazer é seguir dicas ou pelo menos fazer um pesquisa na internet antes de ir.

Seguindo a dica do Ra-eed, o tímido menino (só na foto!) que aparece montando as caixas no post da Magnolia Bakery, fomos conhecer o Ippudo, restaurante japonês especializado em ramen (sopa de noodles).

Localizado no East Village, o Ippudo NY é o primeiro restaurante fora do Ásia, mas que segue exatamente a mesma linha: decoração moderna, cozinha à vista e jazz como música ambiente.

Quando chegamos, esperamos alguns minutos e quando nos acompanhavam até a mesa, fomos surpreendidas com a voz de todos os garçons repetindo uma frase em voz alta. Logo vimos que cada prato que ficava pronto era anunciado em voz alta também. Perguntamos ao garçom o que é, e o porque disso tudo. Ele nos contou que (diz a lenda) o fundador do restaurante tinha problema de audição e que era necessário falar bem alto quantas pessoas e para qual mesa estavam indo (essa é a hora onde todos os garçons repetem - sejam bem-vindos!) além de anunciar qual prato estava pronto e para qual mesa era. Isso se tornou tradição do restaurante e é repetido por todas as pessoas que trabalham no Ippudo - e em japonês!

Começamos nossa refeição com pãezinhos japonêses recheados com frango e molho especial, seguido pelo ramen e terminamos com o clássico chá.(noodles de arroz com carne de porco, vários vegetais e azeite de alho).

Esse é um tipo de surpresa boa que encontramos no nosso caminho!

With so many options of restaurants and bars in New York, the best thing to do is follow a friend's tip or make a research on the internet before going anywhere.

Following Ra-eed's tip - the shy boy (just in the photo!) that appears in Magnolia's Bakery post mounting boxes - we went to Ippudo, a japonese restaurant specialized in ramen (noodle soup).

Located in East Village, Ippudo NY, is the first restaurant outside Asia but with the same esthetics: modern interior, open kitchen and jazz in the background.

When we got there, we waited for a few minutes and when they led us to the table we were surprised by all the waiters repeating something aloud. Soon we noticed that every dish was anounced loundlyas well. We asked the waiter why and what was it all about. He told us that the founder (as the legend says) of the restaurant had a hearing problem and that it was necessary to say loudly how many people, which table they were going (this is when all the waiters repeat - welcome!) and that the dish was ready and for which table it was. This became a tradition in Ippudo's restaurants and is repeated by all the staff - and in japonese!

We started our meal with japonese buns stuffed with chicken and special sauce, followed by ramen(rice noodles with pork, various vegetables and garlic oil) and end it up with the classic tea.
This is one of the good surprises that we found on our way!
