The High Line

A High Line originalmente era parte de uma rede suspensa de transporte de cargas que passava na região oeste de Nova Iorque. Carregando todo tipo de alimentos, os trens percorreram esses trilhos por muitos anos, até a linha ser completamente desativada em 1980.

A revitalização do lugar começou mais de 20 anos depois, e hoje o parque é um dos lugares mais agradáveis para ir na cidade. Com mais ou menos 2,5 quilômetros de extensão o parque percorre três bairros diferentes.

The High Line was originally part of a suspended railroad system in the west side of NYC. The trains transported all kinds of food for many years, until 1980, when it was completely closed.
The reconstruction began after 20 years, and today the park is one of the nicest places to go. With roughly 1.55 miles, the park runs through three different neighborhoods.

O legal é ver como as pessoas sabem realmente aproveitar um espaço público, basta sentar e observar o vai e vem de moradores e turistas. A hora do almoço para várias pessoas que trabalham na região se tornou um momento de relaxamento. Nada melhor do que comprar a comida em um dos ótimos restaurantes do Chelsea Market e correr para sentar em um dos bancos ou cadeiras disponíveis na High Line.

Várias famílias com crianças brincando nos dias quentes, estudantes lendo, ou simplesmente aproveitando os últimos dias de férias. Dá até para tomar um solzinho.

The cool thing is to see how people really know how to use a public space. You can seat and watch the flow of locals and tourists. Lunch time for many people that works in the area has become a moment to relax. There is nothing better then buying food in one of the great restaurants of Chelsea Market and run to sit on the bench or chairs available on the High Line.
Several families with children playing on hot days, students reading or simply enjoying the last days of vacation. You can even take a sun bath!
