Em um dia chuvoso e nublado, saímos para experimentar a comida do The Spotted Pig. Apesar de que fomos um pouco depois do horário do almoço, sabíamos que poderíamos esperar um tempo na fila, já que ele é famoso por isso e por nao fazer reservas.
O lugar é uma mistura de bar, pub e restaurante, e é classificado pelos guías como um gastro-pub.
A classificação não poderia ser melhor: cardápio fácil, reduzido e delicioso, servido durante todo o dia!
Enquanto estávamos escolhendo o que comeríamos, um maravilhoso prato de hambúrguer com finas batatas fritas chamou nossa atenção na mesa ao lado, e resolvemos então experimentá-lo. Combinação simples e feliz: carne suculenta, creme de roquefort e pão.
O ambiente tinha tudo para ser over, mas está longe disso. Mesmo com porcos de todos os tipos e por todos os lados, tudo foi arranjado com muito bom gosto. Apesar de escuro, as janelas grandes deixam entrar bastante luz natural.
Se tiver tempo, não se preocupe com a fila e aproveite para andar pela vizinhança. Você pode deixar seu nome na lista e a recepcionista te liga quando estiver chegando sua vez!
In a rainy and cloudy day, we went out to try the food at The Spotted Pig. Although we went for a late lunch, we knew we would have to wait a bit to seat, as it is famous by its lines and no reservations.
The place is a mix of bar, pub and restaurant, and is often classified as a gastro-pub.
This term could not fit be better: easy, small and delicious menu, served the whole day!
While we were choosing what to eat, an amazing hamburguer with thin fries caught out attention, so we decided to try it. Simple and perfect combination: juicy meat, roquefort and bread.
Even with pigs of all sizes and shapes all over the place, it is really well decorated. The darkness of the saloon is broken by the light that comes in through the big windows.
If you have time, don't hesitate going to The Spotted Pig! You can leave you name with the hostess and she will call when your table is ready. So, enjoy a walk through the neighborhood!
Durante o almoço percebemos uma grande movimentação de funcionários. Ao sair do restaurante descobrimos o motivo: naquela tarde o chef e apresentador Anthony Bourdain gravaria ali um de seus programas (fato que ele mesmo nos contou quando não hesitamos em abordá-lo).
Seu programa, Sem Reservas, além de ser transmitido por um canal de viagens, chama a atenção pelo estilo despretencioso e descontraído. Nos vários lugares que visita, ele mostra lugares e comidas que as pessoas consomem de verdade.
O mais legal de tê-lo encontrado ali, é que só confirmou o que já haviamos achado do lugar: tem que ir!
During lunch, we noticed that something was going on in the restaurant. When we were leaving, we found out: the celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was shooting his show right there (as he himself told us when we didn't hesitate to approach).
His tv show, No Reservations, besides from being broadcasted by The Travel Channel, stands out for its unpretentious and relaxed style. In the various places he visits, he shows places and food that people actually consume.
The best thing about meeting him there is that it only confirms what we were already thinking about the place: a must go!
