Uma fila se forma no lobby de um grande hotel de Nova Iorque (Le Parker Meridien), no fundo um neon em forma de hambúrguer ilumina o corredor escuro, anunciando que sim, estávamos no lugar certo, o Burger Joint.
Enquanto esperávamos não dava pra imaginar o que nos aguardava. Quando finalmente chegamos na porta uma placa já avisava que o pagamento é somente em dinheiro e que você já deve saber o que vai pedir quando chegar ao caixa. Isso não é uma tarefa difícil já que o lugar só vende hambúrguer, batata frita, refrigerante e milk-shake.
O lugar é aparentemente desleixado, todo de madeira, as paredes escritas com caneta, uma televisão com VHS, posters de filmes, cartazes feitos a mão...mas pode ter certeza...foi tudo bem pensado para ser exatamente desse jeito! Apesar de sempre cheio, as pessoas costumam pedir, comer e ir embora e sempre acaba sobrando um espacinho para sentar.
O hambúrguer é realmente tudo o que nos falaram, sem frescuras e invenções, pão, carne, queijo, fim. Muito bom!
A line forms in the lobby of a big hotel in New York (Le Parker Meridien), a hamburger-shaped neon lights up the dark hallway, announcing that yes, we were at the right place, the Burger Joint.
While we were waiting we couldn't imagine how it would be. We finnaly got to the door, and a sign warns that it's "cash only" and that we should know what we were going to have before getting to the cashier. A simple task, since the place only sells burgers, fries, soft drink and milk shake.
The place seems sloppy: wood, the walls are all written, a TV with VHS, movie posters, handmade signs...but you can be sure it was all meant to look exactly like that! Although it is always crowded, people usually order, eat and leave, so there is always a spot to seat.
The burger is exactly what people told us, no frills, no inovations, just bread, meat, cheese, and that's it! Really good!
