Logo quando chegamos à Islândia resolvemos visitar a Blue Lagoon. Demos sorte no primeiro dia, ainda estava relativamente claro as cinco da tarde. Claro o suficiente para vermos um pouquinho da paisagem, uma mistura de pedra, lava endurecida e musgo. De longe já podiamos ver uma concentração de vapor que nos indicava que estávamos no caminho certo.
A Blue Lagoon é um spa geotérmico bem perto da capital, Reyjavík e do aeroporto internacional em Keflavík. A lagoa é composta de água proveniente do magma do solo e por isso sua temperatura está sempre por volta dos 40º. Além do efeito relaxante, a água tem alta concentração de silica e enxofre, dois minerais ótimos para nossa pele. O lugar é diferente de tudo que conhecíamos e já havíamos visto, as pedras pretas contrastam com a água azul claro e é realmente lindo.
A expêriencia começou logo quando saímos do carro, vento gelado e temperatura chegando aos 3 graus. Na entrada recebemos pulseirinhas com chip e uma toalha. Antes de entrar na lagoa é necessário tomar banho - é lei e pode dar multa! - para tirar qualquer resquício de produtos como shampoo, creme e maquiagem. Então é respirar fundo, andar alguns metros no frio e entrar na água quente!
Depois de passar um pouco da lama branca no rosto, tomar alguma coisa no bar e relaxar o difícil mesmo é criar coragem para sair e vestir a roupa de novo!
Right after we landed in Iceland, we decided to go to the Blue Lagoon. We were lucky the first day, there was still a little sunligh at 5 pm. Enough light to see the landscape, a mix of rocks, hardened lava and moss. From far away we could already see a concentration of vapor that indicated that we were on the right way.
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa very close to the capital Reykavík and to the international airport in Keflavík. The lagoon is composed by steamy water from a lava formation so the temperature is always around 40º C (104º F). Besides the relaxing effect, the water has high concentration of silica and sulfur, two great minerals for our skin. The place is different from anywhere we had seen or been before, the black stones contrasts with the blue water and it is really beautiful.
The experience began right after jumping of the car, the wind was cold and the temperature around 3ºC ( 37.4ºF). At the entrance we got bracelets with chips and a towel. Before entering the lagoon is necessary to take a shower - it's a law! - to remove any trace of products like shampoo, moistorizing cream and make-up. Then you just need to take a deep breath and to walk a few meters to get into the hot water!
After putting the white mud in the face, having a drink at the bar and relaxing, it's hard to take the courage to get out and put your clothes on again!
