Take care!

Mesmo tentando planejar tudo nos mínimos detalhes durante uma viagem, algumas surpresas boas acontecem e outras nem tanto. O clima é um dos responsáveis por muitas mudanças, a chuva faz com que a gente não queira sair de casa, encontros fazem uma tarde ser mais agrádavel, a comida de um restaurante nos deixa feliz e a neve...a neve muda a paisagem e no nosso caso fez com que todos os nossos planos fossem por água abaixo.

Quando já estávamos no meio do caminho de volta começou a nevar muito e a paisagem que era verde, preta e azul ficou completamente branca. As quatro e meia da tarde já estava completamente escuro e decidimos que mesmo levando muito tempo para chegar ao nosso destino iríamos bem devagar. Todo o cuidado que tomamos não foi suficiente e o carro acabou deslizando e capotando. Mesmo com todo o susto, inacreditavelmente não tivemos nem um arranhão. Algumas pessoas nos ajudaram e no final tudo foi se ajeitando.

No caminho de volta para Reyjkavík, vimos o perigo da neve: muitas pessoas, mesmo com experiência nessas condições climáticas, estavam com os carros para fora da estrada.

Acabamos perdendo os últimos dias da nossa viagem, mas chegamos a conclusão que no final das contas o que realmente importa é que estávamos bem e guardávamos boas lembranças de tudo o que já havíamos feito e visto.

P.S.: ter calma para avaliar as condições dos equipamentos principalmente em lugares com grandes variações climáticas é extremamente fundamental. Pelo que tudo indica (testemunhas e perícia) este acidente provavelmente não teria acontecido se os pneus estivessem em boas condições... detalhe simples que a euforia de chegar ali nos fez esquecer de realmente conferir. Mas não seria uma preocupação que a locadora de carros deveria ter?! Aqui, outro fator importante. Boas escolhas!

Even if we try to plan everything in details for a trip, surprises always happen, some are good and some not so much. The weather is one of the responsibles for many changes, sometimes the rain makes us not want to leave home, a meeting make an afternoon nicer, the food in a restaurant makes us happy and the snow...the snow changes the landscape and in our case it made all our plans take another direction.

When we were on the way back it began snowing a lot and the landscape that was green, black and blue was completely white. At 4:30 pm it was completely dark and we decided that even if we took too long to reach our destination we were going very slowly.

All the care we took wasn't enough and we ended up in a car accident. It slided and turned. Even with the shock, we didn't have a single scratch, some people stopped to help us and at the end everything was ok.

On our way to Reykjavík we saw how dangerous the snow can be: many people even with experience in that kind of weather conditions, were with the cars out off the road.

We ended up losing the last days of our trip but we come to the conclusion that at the end, what really matters is that we were fine and that we could keep good memories of everything we have done and seen.

P.S.: it is extremely important to take time to assess the condition of the equipments, especially in places with climatic variations. It seems (according to the witnesses and the report) that this accident probably would not have happened if the tires were in good conditions... a simple detail that the euphoria of getting there made us forget to actually check it. But shouldn't it be a concern of the car rental company? It's another important factor.
