Nossa caminhada por Tribeca teve mais uma parada quando procurávamos por uma sobremesa e sem saber, ela foi estratégica. Em um quarteirão da Duane Street fica uma das praças mais antigas de Nova Iorque. Ela é bem pequena mas super bem cuidada.
É bem na frente dessa praça que fica a Duane Park Patisserie. O lugar é bem simples, tem cara de que já existe por ali há tempos e apesar do extenso cardápio, a maioria dos produtos são feitos por encomenda. Com certeza é um endereço certo quando se trata de pedidos.
Alguns minutos depois de pedir um café e uma tortinha de frutas vermelhas, duas menininhas com a mãe e uma amiga entraram na loja. Elas falavam inglês mas com algumas palavras em português. Mesmo com outros lugares vazios, elas se sentaram na mesma mesa em que estávamos.
Conversamos um pouquinho com elas, a mãe, brasileira casada com americano, mora nos Estados Unidos há alguns anos e conversa com as filhas em português em casa. A filha mais velha, que deve ter lá seus 9 anos ficou super interessada em nossa conversa e quis logo nos dar uma dica de um lugar que ela adora ir.
E foi assim que chegamos no Hudson River Park!
Our walk along Tribeca had one more stop while looking for a dessert and we didn't know it was strategic. In one block of Duane Street is one of the oldest parks of New York. It is very small but very well cared.
It's right in front of this park that Duane Park Patisserie is. The place is very simple, it looks like it has been there forever and despite the extensive menu, most products are made by order. It is certainly a right address when it comes to ordering for a party.
A few minutes later, after asking for a coffee and a berries tart, two little girls with their mother and a friend entered the store.They spoke english but with a few words in portuguese. Even with other empty tables, they sat at the same table we were.
We talked a little with them, the mother, brazilian married to an american guy that lives in the United States for some years now, and talk with her daughters in portuguese. The eldest daughter, around nine years old, was super interested in our conversation and wanted to tell us about a place she loves to go.
And that's how we got to Hudson River Park!
