O Brooklyn nos apresentou Joel e Christina, que nos indicaram a Bakeri, que nos levou até o Sweetwater. Williamsburg é mesmo cheio de surpresas!
Em um lugar onde já funcionou uma taberna de marinheiros e pessoas que trabalhavam no porto e que também já foi um clube punk, funciona o restaurante Sweetwater. Dos estabelecimentos passados só restaram as paredes de metal prensado, o chão de ladrilho e o enorme bar de madeira, mas o resto da decoração e objetos foram cuidadosamente escolhidos e parecem ter estado sempre por alí. O estilo retrô e o cardápio com pitadas de culinária americana, francesa e até espanhola fazem uma mistura interessante e deliciosa.
O almoço por lá foi sem dúvida uma das melhores refeições que fizemos durante nossa viagem. Seguindo a sugestão do atencioso garçon Rudy, comemos um saboroso e incrível hambúrguer com cheddar e bacon em um english muffin e uma surpreendente salada de melância, (sim melância!).
Pode parecer estranho, mas melância, queijo feta, cebola roxa, azeitonas pretas, hortelã e semente de abóbora fazem uma das combinações mais harmônicas que já experimentamos! Leve, refrescante e ótima para acompanhar o prato principal de qualquer almoço ou jantar.
Nós gostamos tanto da salada, que resolvemos fazer para os amigos depois que voltamos. Definitivamente, vale a pena tentar!

Brooklyn introduced us Joel and Christina, who showed us Bakeri, which took us to Sweetwater. Williamsburg is really full of surprises!
In a place where was once a tavern for sailors and people who worked in the harbor and that later was also a punk club, now is a great restaurant, Sweetwater. Of the old establishments there is only the pressed metal walls, the tile floor and the huge wooden bar left, but the rest of the decor and objects were so carefully chosen that it seems to have always been there. The retro style and the menu with touches of american, french and even spanish cuisine make an interesting and delicious mix.
Our lunch there was certainly one of the best meals we had during our trip. We followed the suggestions that Rudy, the helpful waiter, gave us and ate an incredible and tasty burger with cheddar and bacon on an english muffin and a surprising watermelon salad (yes, watermelon!).
It may seem strange, but watermelon, feta cheese, onions, black olives, mint and pumpkin seeds makes one of the most harmonious combinations we have ever tasted! Light and fresh it is great to accompany the main dish of any lunch and dinner.
We liked it so much that we decided to make the salad for friends in our new year's party when we came back! It is definitely worth a try!
