Em seu pequeno território a Costa Rica abriga muitos vulcões, entre eles mais de 7 estão ativos. Bem perto de San José está o vulcão Irazú, que está a 3432 metros de altitude e é o mais alto do país. Sua última atividade foi em 1963, coincidindo com a visita do então presidente dos Estados Unidos, John F Kennedy. Desde então esteve "acordado" por breves momentos.
O melhor de visitar os vulcões na Costa Rica, é a facilidade em chegar ao topo da cratera. As estradinhas chegam até lá em cima, mesmo que cheias de curvas e o caminho é lindo, cheio de florzinhas amarelas das plantações de batata!
O Irazú apesar de pertinho, é um dos vulcões menos visitados e exatamente por isso é legal, com sua paisagem maravilhosa e o silêncio quase absoluto.

The best thing when visiting volcanoes in Costa Rica is that it is easy to get to the crater, the little roads get you to the summit, even with all the curves and the best thing is that it is a beautiful way fill with yeallow flowers from the potato fields.
The Irazu although close, is one of the least visited volcanoes and that is exactly why it is cool: with its beautiful landscape and the almost absolute silence.
